In the late Cretaceous period one of the best known and longed lived dinosaurs was the Triceratops. Triceratops existed in western North America and in appearance was very similar to the modern rhinoceros. Weighing five tons, measuring 30 feet long and 14 feet high he had a sharp horn above each eye and one above his snout. He frequently drove off larger dinosaurs such as the tyrannosaurus rex. His wavy neck frill was short with bony lumps and with his parrot-like beak and 640 teeth he ate plants and small tree tops. Lived 70 million years ago This item has been RETIRED! All of these 1998 Castagna's Figurines are hand cast from alabaster and resin. Once dried, the castings are removed from the molds. Castagna Collectibles, are not mass-produced. Each mold can be used only once or twice a day. It is after the figurines are removed from their molds that the talents of dedicated artisans and craftsmen from Bagni di Lucca, Italy hand-finish each sculpture. It is Castagna's creativity in design and the special manufacturing process that allow for the creation of sculpture that is exquisitely detailed and of the utmost quality. Each sculpture is extensively researched for authenticity, with body shapes, colors and expressions depicted as life-like as possible. Each sculpture is then copyrighted (domestic & international) with the copyright date molded into the figurine. Each sculpture is carefully wrapped and gift boxed for protection. This figurine is now retired! If you like it, you might consider getting it now before the price increases more. Castagna did not make very many of these pieces because of the time consuming process. This is probably why the crushed alabaster figurines were iretired.
